Impact Investment Program

The Yampa Valley Community Foundation, after embarking on a nearly year-long exploration, education, and pilot process, has established a local Impact Investment Program. Local impact investments are those made to local nonprofit organizations with the intention of generating measurable community benefit alongside modest financial returns. The objective of the program is consistent with our mission to lead transformational change throughout the Yampa Valley. The program is a means of addressing the gap between the need for capital and what the private market will provide, enabling investment opportunities at rates of financial return that prioritize community impact. Through our Impact Investment Program, YVCF can unlock capital to address critical issues nonprofits face.

Applications will be evaluated by an Impact Investment Committee made up of staff, Trustees, and community members with expertise in banking and investments, entrepreneurship, corporate leadership, insurance, and more. The Committee will determine whether the impact, risk, and return potential warrant investment of the Community Foundation’s dollars, and will be responsible for risk assessment, due diligence, negotiation, deal structuring, and reporting.

Currently, YVCF is seeking opportunities for impact investments specific to affordable housing as well as applications for general nonprofit support.

If you would like to learn more before submitting an application, email YVCF’s Chief Executive Officer Tim Wohlgenant for an initial consultation at tim@yvcf.org.
