Thanks to the generosity of 94 members, the Women’s Giving Circle funded 83 assistance requests in 2024, distributing a total of $135,761. This marks a significant increase from 2023, when 73 proposals were funded for $96,313. Over the past four years, the program has grown by 279%, a testament both to the compassion of our community and the increasing need for support in our valley.
The Women’s Giving Circle accepts proposals from nonprofit organizations year-round to improve the situation for our neighbors who are struggling or who have come upon hard times. Proposals for urgent and critical, but not chronic, needs are accepted. Examples of some of the individuals and families helped in 2024 include:
- A new furnace for a single mom caring for an infant with a chronic condition and high medical bills ($3,000 to Northwest Colorado Health Partnership)
- Rental assistance for a victim of domestic violence to secure stable housing ($600 to Advocates of Routt County)
- Two months of rent in an accessible home for a client suffering from ALS ($3,000 to Northwest Colorado Center for Independence)
- Home repairs for a family who lost their father to suicide ($3,000 to Northwest Colorado Health)
- Childcare assistance for a family whose son had a sudden and severe epilepsy diagnosis ($3,000 to First Impressions of Routt County)
A Giving Circle is a group of passionate people who come together, pooling tax-deductible donations and granting the funds into the community where they can have a meaningful impact. YVCF manages charitable contributions, grant disbursement, and additional marketing and outreach for the Giving Circle. Giving Circles provide an opportunity for donors to meet new friends and learn about giving and community issues. New members are welcome; for more information on how to join, call 970-879-8632 or email traci@yvcf.org.
