TOGETHER, WE DID IT! We have reached our capital campaign goal and have officially broken ground on the construction of YVCF’s new home in downtown Steamboat Springs on the corner of 4th and Oak Streets.
Made possible through a one-of-a-kind donation of land, this project will enable YVCF to better serve our community and nonprofits, to grow our capacity, to increase our impact and to preserve shared community values through the power of philanthropy.
Here we will create a home for philanthropy, build connections, share experiences, and welcome new people to the joy of giving – all essential to our vision of fostering a thriving community through the power of philanthropy. We are grateful to many partners who share our passion for the Yampa Valley, and have generously donated to make this vision a reality.
YVCF works every day to preserve the shared community values that make our valley such a special place to work, live, raise a family, and enjoy the beauty of our surroundings. This highly visible location will reflect the perpetual commitment of YVCF to our community, enable us to meet the needs of our organization’s growing capacity, and will serve as a valuable resource in support of nonprofits and the broader community.
Over our 40-year history, YVCF has become integral to the vibrancy of the Yampa Valley. We provide support for local nonprofits in helping them fulfill their missions and build capacity, we partner with philanthropists who want to make an impact through their giving, and we serve as a resource for our communities in addressing challenges. Nonprofit leaders support this project. They know it’s critical for nonprofits to have a professional, welcoming place to bring new donors and to connect with supporters. They also recognize that anything that strengthens YVCF ultimately benefits the nonprofit community as well.
Since the Foundation’s inception, it has granted out to the community over $45 million. As our Yampa Valley region has grown, so has the impact delivered through YVCF’s programs and grantmaking. In 2020 alone, we saw a 66% increase in grantmaking to nonprofits ($2.5 million), 20% increase in scholarships awarded, 57% increase in donor base and almost $400,000 in emergency support granted out of the COVID-19 Response Fund. With your support for this new headquarters, we will be better able to promote the heritage and values of our community while also preparing for the organization’s future.
