The WZ Giving Circle gathered in October 2022 for its third and final meeting of the year. At the meeting, eight nonprofit organizations presented thirteen proposals for funding consideration. The WZ Giving Circle funded all 13 requests, totaling over $46,000 in financial support for families and individuals who are struggling and need a boost. Examples of some of the proposals that were funded include: roof repair for an individual on disability, after-care assisted living for a veteran going through a stem cell transplant, reading tutoring and IEP advocacy services for a child and his family, and travel costs to assist a woman going through a breast cancer clinical trial.
In 2022, the WZ Giving Circle funded over $106,000 to assist Routt and Moffat County community members in need. Since its inception in 2015, the WZ Giving Circle has granted over $430,000 in assistance.
The WZ Giving Circle was founded by Kip and Karen Parks in 2015, to make a difference in the lives of people in need in our communities. WZ Giving Circle members donate a minimum of $2,000 per year toward the collective giving fund and meet three times each year to hear from nonprofits who present proposals for funding up to $5,000, on behalf of anonymous clients in need. Giving Circle members then vote at the end of each meeting on funding for the proposals. It has grown from an initial group of approximately 15 couples to over 30 members (couples and individuals).
