Emergent Needs Funding

YVCF Emergent Needs Funding Program

The Yampa Valley Community Foundation is committed to supporting the nonprofit organizations serving Moffat and Routt Counties. YVCF encourages all nonprofits to build realistic budgets with diversified funding sources. However, we understand that the nature of nonprofit work can often bring unexpected challenges. The YVCF Emergent Need Funding Program is designed to support nonprofit organizations in the Yampa Valley in overcoming unplanned, unexpected, or unbudgeted needs that arise throughout the year.

To qualify for YVCF’s Emergent Needs Funding Program, the following must be true:

  1. The applying entity must be a grantable entity eligible to receive charitable funds;
  2. The applying entity must serve Routt and/or Moffat County;
  3. The financial need must be unbudgeted, unplanned, or unexpected, and must be time limited and not recurring year-over-year

Note: Capital Campaigns and “Business as Usual” Funding are not eligible for the Emergent Needs Funding Program. Individual client needs are not eligible for this funding, if you are looking for urgent need support for individual clients, please see the Giving Circle Funding opportunities.

If the above criteria are met, please fill out the form below explaining the funding need and how or why it arose. Once vetted by YVCF staff, emergent needs are shared with donors whose philanthropic interests align with the need, and needs are funded by donors rather than by discretionary funding of YVCF. There is no guarantee that a need will be funded, as it depends on whether the need is something that donors feel compelled to support. Please provide details that will help donors understand the need, the urgency of it, why and how it came about, and the community benefit it will have.

If you are unsure if your need qualifies for the Emergent Needs Funding Program, please reach out to Greg (greg@yvcf.org) or Camille (camille@yvcf.org) for more information.

Sample Emergent Needs Funded by YVCF

The YVCF Emergent Needs Funding program is designed to support a wide array of funding needs that arise throughout the year. Below are a few of the needs that have been successfully funded through this program.

_BLANK DO NOT DELETE
Reaching Everyone Preventing Suicide (REPS)

In 2023, REPS ran into a cash flow crisis for their free mental health counseling program, since the demand for the services increased significantly more than budgeted for since the prior year. YVCF was able to secure enough funding to keep the program fully funded and meet the need within the community.

First Impressions of Routt County

YVCF was able to provide funding to First Impressions of Routt County for Quality Improvement Funding when the state funding for this program fell short of the projected funding that would be available for Routt County.

Northwest Colorado Community Health Partnership & Queer Futures

Funding to Health Partnership in collaboration with Queer Futures, to begin bringing an LGBTQ+  identifying behavioral health provider to the Yampa Valley twice a month for a year, in the first year pilot of this program.

Love Inc

Assistance to Love Inc. toward one year’s rent for consolidated food bank for Moffat and Rio Blanco Counties.

Northwest Colorado Health

In 2023, YVCF provided funding to Northwest Colorado Health to meet the higher-than-expected costs of having to contract with traveling nurses to be able to serve Home Health and Hospice patients, and keep the programs open to families in need.

Every day we meet with partners, new and longstanding, to pass on our passion to build a better Yampa Valley. If you have a passion, we can help you find the best way to pass it on.
