Yampa Valley Gives, the local regional champion of Colorado Gives Day has received a grant from Operation Round Up of the Yampa Valley Electric Association.  The mission of Operation Round Up is to extend the principle on which electric cooperatives were built over 75 years ago,  Small change that changes lives.  Yampa Valley Electric Association strives to strengthen and improve local communities. Funding from Operation Round Up can be granted to nonprofit organizations that show as 501(c)(3) organizations within YVEA’s service territory.

The grant will be used to provide marketing efforts to promote the 2017 Yampa Valley Gives Day.   In total, $766,777 from 2,768 donations was raised in 24 hours during the 2016 Yampa Valley Gives Day to support Yampa Valley nonprofits in Routt and Moffat Counties. The 2017 Yampa Valley Gives Day will be held on Tuesday, December 5th, 2017.

Operation Round Up has a separate Board of Directors from that of Yampa Valley Electric. The current Operation Round Up Board includes Chairman, Mr. Tom Fox from Steamboat Springs, Ms. Betse Grassby of Steamboat Springs, Ms. Judy Jones of Steamboat Springs, Ms. Kathy Powell from Craig, Ms. Rebecca Wattles from Hayden.  Tammi Strickland is the Board Secretary/Treasurer.  This Board of Directors is responsible for allocating the funds raised through our member participation.

Operation Round Up is an example of just how far a little generosity and cooperation can go towards improving a person’s life.
