Most morning meetings at the Bud Werner Memorial Library in downtown Steamboat Springs don’t end in granting over $15,000 to Routt County residents in need. When the WZ Giving Circle meets, this is what happens.
The WZ Giving Circle recently met to review proposals from area nonprofits for their spring funding cycle. The group of 17 couples meet bi-annually to learn about the immediate needs of Routt County residents in an effort to make an impact on our community with their charitable giving.
During this cycle they were able to grant out a total of $15,750 to six nonprofits ranging from $1,500 to $3,750. The group goes beyond monetary donations, as one of the members was able to coordinate the donation of a number of needed furniture items and a refrigerator for two local families.
Staff from YVCF and Integrated Community spent a rainy April morning heavy lifting furniture and a refrigerator to deliver to the two needy Routt County families. Thank you Olivia’s Home Furnishings for facilitating the donation of the needed items. If you are interested in joining the the WZ Giving Circle or another YVCF Giving Circle, click here.
