$19K in 2019 and $12K in First Third of 2020

The Women’s Giving Circle of the Yampa Valley Community Foundation is a group of donors who, year-round, address pressing needs among women, children and elderly in the Yampa Valley.  The group accepts proposals from organizations, schools and churches on an ongoing basis to provide immediate help to members of our community.

In 2019, the Women’s Giving Circle funded 15 grant proposals for a total of $19,912, with awards going to the following organizations: Northwest Colorado Center for Independence, Northwest Colorado Community Health Partnership, Integrated Community, Love Inc., Lift Up of Routt County, Community Clinics at Memorial Regional Health, Routt County Department of Human Services, Advocates of Routt County, and Boys and Girls Club.

Some examples of the needs met in 2019 include:

$1,425 to the Northwest Colorado Center for Independence for a bathtub lift for a 12-year-old mobility impaired girl.

$1,645 to Advocates of Routt County to cover home security updates for a single mother escaping a domestic violence situation.

So far in 2020, reflecting the community-wide economic impact of coronavirus, the Women’s Giving Circle has received more requests than in a typical year.  The group has funded 11 requests for a total of $12,011 and will continue to accept and review proposals throughout the year. Organizations that have received funding in 2020 are: Northwest Colorado Community Health Partnership, Integrated Community, United Way of Routt County/Routt to Success, Northwest Colorado Center for Independence, Advocates of Routt County, LiftUp of Rout County, and Northwest Colorado Health.
