Elk River AnesthesiaThe local Anesthesia group in Steamboat, Elk River Anesthesia Associates, has created a scholarship with the intent of giving back to the community. Dr. David Skolnick shares, “The Doctors in our practice recognize the expense of attending college and want to help aspiring students reach their educational goals by helping to offset some college expenses for local students.” The Elk River Anesthesia Healthcare Scholarship of $2,500 will be awarded to two students from Routt or Moffat County on an annual basis. Students are eligible to apply for the scholarship if they are entering college with an interest in studying healthcare, including the medical or nursing fields.

The Jim Swiggart Ski Town USA Rotary Club Leadership Award.  This scholarship Jim Swiggart and familyhonors Jim’s legacy and continues his advocacy to encourage and support youth in our community to reach their highest potential. Jim was a founding member of the Ski Town USA Rotary Club and a Rotarian for many years. He was a natural fundraiser and applied this talent to many causes. When Colorado Mountain College embarked on their ambitious campus expansion a few years ago, Jim stepped in as fundraising chairperson for the college. As Jim was prone to do, he knocked it out of the park.  His charisma, infectious enthusiasm, and caring attitude was revealed at events such as the Steamboat Springs Winter Sport Club Ski Ball and other events over the years. In his honor, The Rotary club created a $1,000 award for a Routt County graduating Senior who exhibits outstanding leadership qualities and is an athlete. This scholarship will be awarded to a student who exude Jim’s zest for life.  This scholarship is renewable for up to one additional year.
