Trail Maintenance Endowment Fund Donor of the Month: Kim Hornsby
How do you enjoy trails?
My favorite thing to do in the world is mountain biking the Steamboat area trails. In fact, it was one of the main reasons that I moved here and what continues to keep me here. I am a summer girl! I also enjoy daily hikes with my dogs and an occasional backpack trip into the wilderness.
When did you first become a donor of the TMEF and what inspired you to give?
I became familiar with TMEF in early 2017. I am inspired by the concept of sustainability and responsible usage of our resources. I like to be involved where I can and as a small business owner, I love giving back to this community that has given so much to me. We began a program in 2017 where we celebrate every customer’s birthday with a donation to organizations that support this dream mountain lifestyle that we all love so much. TMEF is one of those organizations.
Can you share a memorable experience you’ve had on our local or area trails?
There are so very many memories I have out on the trails, its where I am the happiest. The best part for me is running into friends and neighbors on every trail, sharing laughter and stories about the day’s ride. I feel more connected to my community on the trails than in town!
What is your vision for the future of trails in the Yampa Valley?
My vision for the future of trails is to move forward responsibly taking very seriously the protection of all wildlife and wilderness. I also hope to continue to see diversity in difficulty levels so that every single person has a trail that they can enjoy and experience this paradise!
What is your message to people who have not given to the TMEF yet?
I hope others will join me in giving to the TMEF not just to sustain our trails, but really to preserve the experiences and adventures we share every time we set foot (or wheel) on a trail!
