Trail Donor of the Month: Kyleigh Lawler

How do you enjoy trails?
Being on the trails makes my soul sing for joy.  Like many people in our community I love to mountain bike, hike and run on our beautiful trails.  Every step or pedal, I feel so fortunate to have these trails in our backyard with incredible accessibility.

2.    When did you first become a donor of the TMEF and what inspired you to give?
I started donating to TMEF the first year it came about.  After hearing this would help create a permanent endowment to support our trails, I instantly knew this was something I wanted to support year after year.  I am an avid trail user and I’ve always felt a bit guilty of not being able to physically give back to the trails in terms of trail crew or maintenance, as I’m usually home with my young kiddos during those times.  Donating to TMEF was a way I could feel good about giving back to the trail sports I’m so passionate about.

3.    Can you share a memorable experience you’ve had on our local or area trails?
The first time my daughters were able to ride singletrack/double track independently was definitely a highlight and experience that just keeps getting better.  Panorama and Fiddlehead are the perfect trails for younger kids or beginner riders.  The lower vertical gain and shorter distance of the trails make it fun and achievable.  Other noteworthy experiences on the trails include the grit of completing a climb with the reward of descending on the downhill.  Complete with friends and lots of hoots and hollers.

4.    What is your vision for the future of trails in the Yampa Valley?
Continue to keep our majestic trails maintained for all ages to enjoy for years to come.  I love the addition of some of the easier trails, as well as some of the new and improved directional trails offering variety for every rider type.  Continued education on safe trail use and trail etiquette is also important.

5.    What is your message to people who have not given to the TMEF yet?
Making a donation that fits within your budget (no donation is too small) will make you feel good about giving back to our trails.
