Strings Music Festival has wrapped up the 2016-2017 school year of completely free music education programs for students in the Yampa Valley.
1,300 students attended field trips to the Strings Pavilion with their teachers and parents. New this year, each child received Musical Notes, a preshow educational guide to the types of music and instruments he or she would see and hear in performance. Strings’ middle school and high school program, Mozart Masters, concluded in March. Nearly three hundred band students were mentored by bluegrass bands Trout Steak Revival and The Railsplitters over the school year through video and in-classroom workshops which culminated in performances at Strings with the professional musicians. Also this year, Strings traveled to Soroco schools and for the first time, the North Routt Charter School with musicians and singers.
