Substitute teachers wanted for local school districts

WANTED: Substitutes Hamric alerted the board to a shortage of substitute teachers. It’s been a growing concern, he said, exacerbated by the pandemic.   “It’s a very limited pool,” which is especially problematic when teachers are quarantined, he said. A substitute only needs to have a high school degree, Hamric noted, as well as go through a background check and an application process. “We’d be very appreciative if anyone who is interested contact us,” he said. YVCF's COVID-19 Emergency Fund supports a New Approach to School-based Mentoring Partners in Routt County (PRC) is excited to announce a new Volunteer School-Based Mentoring (SBM) program for the ‘20-‘21 school year. Traditionally, PRC places 6-10 paid mentors in schools to support up to 10 target students and provide other needed services. Due to funding cuts, that program has been reduced to only three positions. North Routt Community Fund: Now Accepting Applications

The North Routt Community Fund was established at the Yampa Valley Community Foundation for the purpose to benefit North Routt County, Colorado.  Only grant requests for charitable purposes that have a public benefit will be considered. Programs and services that receive funding from the Yampa Valley Community Foundation shall not include any political or religious intentions. Grants up to $5,000 will be considered for funding. Successful grant proposals should:
  • Demonstrate impact in the North Routt County
  • Define the process used to measure impact and evaluate expected results

YVCF is seeking members to serve on the South Routt Education Endowment Granting Committee

The Yampa Valley Community Foundation is seeking residents of the South Routt community to serve on the South Routt Education Endowment Fund Granting Committee. The grant committee must include a minority representation of South Routt School Staff members, including up to one member from the South Routt School Board. YVCF Awards $211,300 in Scholarships to Local Students

Scholarships were awarded to students at, Yampa Valley High School, Steamboat Springs High School, Moffat County High School, Soroco High School, Hayden High School, Meeker High School, and Colorado Mountain College. The Yampa Valley Community Foundation (YVCF) awarded scholarships totaling $211,300 to 108 students to attend college, university, post-graduate studies or trade school next year. Of the scholarships awarded, 123 went to graduating seniors from the Class of 2020, with the remaining 50 awarded as scholarship renewals for past recipients or special scholarships.
