Building Bridges with the Trail Maintenance Endowment Fund

In 2018, the City of Steamboat Springs applied for funding from the Trail Maintenance Endowment Fund (TMEF) to replace and repair several bridges on the heavily used Spring Creek Trail.  The bridges on Spring Creek Trail were installed over 25 years ago and are showing signs of deterioration, including cracks and safety concerns. The grant request was to replace bridge #6 and #8.

The TMEF Granting Committee awarded $4,352 to fund this project.  This grant in partnership with additional funds from the City of Steamboat Springs allowed for the completion of the bridge replacements and covered the cost of the materials. Local nonprofit, Rocky Mountain Youth Corps worked alongside the City to complete the heavy lifting on the ground.    Next time you are crossing bridge #6 and #8 on Spring Creek Trail, know that the bridges are safer because of our local trail fund!

Cracks in bridges were a safety concern.
