Kelly and Steve Bloom Challenge the community to raise $25,000 to support the efforts of the COVID-19  Emergency Fund

Beginning on #GivingTuesday Now, May 5th

The Yampa Valley Community Foundation announces a $25,000 matching challenge for the Yampa Valley COVID-19 Emergency Fund. Kelly and Steve Bloom have offered to match the next $25,000 in donations so that each dollar you give beginning on #GivingTuesday Now, May 5th is doubled automatically. Any amount donated is appreciated and no gift is too small. There are no administrative fees associated with this fund; 100% of each dollar donated is directed to hardworking community nonprofits meeting the needs of the most vulnerable populations in Northwest Colorado.

The fund has already raised $240,000 and awarded $72,821.  Grants from the fund support organizations that have deep roots and experience in serving our neighbors most impacted by the health and economic consequences of the COVID-19 crisis: those without health insurance/access to sick days, with limited English language proficiency, chronic health conditions, mobility impairments, and the young and aging populations of our community. You can view a list of grant recipients here

Your generosity makes a difference in helping to meet the critical needs of our community members including housing, food, and medical needs. All donations to the Yampa Valley COVID-19 Response Fund are considered a charitable contribution.

The Yampa Valley COVID-19 Response Fund was created by a coalition of philanthropic, government, and community partners to expand our local capacity to address the local health and economic impacts of this outbreak. It is designed to complement the work of public health officials. The first phase of rapid-response grants will address the immediate needs of economically vulnerable populations, the increased demand for medical information and support, and the fear and confusion about the outbreak among our most vulnerable residents. Funds will be released on a rolling basis as fundraising continues throughout the outbreak and recovery phases of the crisis, making it possible to move resources quickly and to adapt to the community’s evolving needs.
